About 11U Baseball

11U Baseball (Silver division) marks the first transition to larger field dimensions — 65-foot base paths and a 50-foot pitching mound. That extra distance changes the game meaningfully: infielders need to develop arm strength and accuracy, and base runners have more ground to cover.

Stealing is allowed once the ball leaves the pitcher's hand — not just when it crosses the plate. There are no leadoffs at 11U Silver; runners must keep their foot on the base until pitch release. No walk limits apply at this level.

The 8-run-per-inning limit (up from 6 runs at 8U–10U) gives both teams more offensive opportunity. The mercy rule (10 runs after 4, 15 runs after 3) applies. Infield fly and dropped third strike are both in effect.

Coach's Note

"The jump from 60 to 65 feet is significant. Give infielders extra throwing reps at the start of practice until the new distance feels natural. Double plays become possible at this level — start working them. Remind players that no leadoffs are allowed — a runner who leaves early is out."
