Fast-pitch at 40 feet — the highest level of LYB softball.
14U Softball is the capstone division of the LYB program — fast-pitch at 40 feet on full 60-foot base paths in a doubleheader format. This is the level that directly prepares players for high school and travel softball.
Pitching velocity and movement at 14U are significant. Batters must develop plate discipline and pitch recognition to succeed. Coaches work on two-strike approaches, situational hitting, and understanding opposing pitchers over the course of a game.
Every player on a 14U roster has been in the LYB program for years. The culture of the team — accountability, leadership, work ethic — is set by the players as much as the coaches. The best 14U teams are the ones where older players mentor younger ones.

Pitch Count / Arm Protection
Pitchers allowed to pitch unlimited innings per SRAA rules. All pitchers must wear a fielding facemask. No stealing when offensive team leads by 10 or more runs.
Coach's Note
"At 40 feet, the game moves fast. Preparation before games separates 14U programs. Know your opponent's pitcher tendencies, have your lineup set for the game situation, and have a pitching plan before you step on the field. Pitch counts apply across the full doubleheader. All pitchers must wear a facemask per SRAA rules."
Players who turned 14 by September 1, 2025 are eligible for 14U Softball (born 2012 or 2013). Players who turn 15 after September 1, 2025 may also play 14U with coach and league approval.

30"–33" bat, drop -12 to -10. ASA/USA Softball certified. Barrel 2¼", max length 34", max weight 31.5 oz.
